Like Divorce, Dissolution of a Civil Partnerships does
not have to be an acrimonious and unpleasant process. Since
the 5th December 2005, same sex couples have acquired the
right to ‘marry’ by registering as civil partners
of one another.
The process of ending the arrangement is very similar
to the Divorce process. Like Divorce, there is only one
ground for Dissolution being that the partnership has
broken down irretrievably.
Unlike Divorce, you are unable to rely
on ‘adultery’ as a fact to prove that it
has broken down irretrievably but you can rely on the
four other facts such as ‘Unreasonable behaviour’ and
being separated for 2 years.
